The new ownership has transformed this remote mountain getaway into something special, with guests raving about the welcoming staff and extensive renovations to the lodge. The real star is the brand new snowcat that not only transports visitors from the snow park but also grooms the road regularly, making winter access far more pleasant for snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. Staff members like Buffalo and Mark get frequent shoutouts for going above and beyond, with one even returning forgotten skis to Bend. The food consistently impresses, from BBQ wings to elk burgers to special holiday dinners, all served in a cozy, fireplace-warmed atmosphere. Winter visitors are having exceptional experiences, whether taking the scenic 90-minute snowcat ride for a day trip or staying in lakeside cabins with stunning views of Bachelor, Broken Top, and South Sister. The property offers plenty of activities including snowmobile rentals, groomed trails, and a peaceful backcountry vibe without the stress. There are a few reports of maintenance issues in unrenovated cabins from the transition period, but most guests find even the older cabins comfortable and cozy. Cell service and internet work surprisingly well for such a remote location, and the entire operation feels professionally run with attentive communication.

We are beginner skate skiers and we skied in 11 miles on a freshly groomed trail and it was wonderful. The lodge is beautiful and the food and drinks were awesome. Highly recommend!! We took the snow cat out from the lodge back to Dutchman and it is new, clean and enjoyable. The views of the mountains and lakes are memorable!
