This tour seems to hit the sweet spot between entertainment and education, with guides who really know their stuff and clearly love sharing Deadwood's colorful history. Multiple visitors mention learning "little known facts" and discovering things even repeat visitors hadn't heard before. The format is especially appealing if you're not up for the steep hike to Mt. Moriah Cemetery, which sits way up the hill from downtown. They take you right up there with plenty of time to explore and snap photos, which travelers consistently call out as a major perk. The double-decker bus setup gets rave reviews too, particularly the top level for unobstructed views of the gulch and town. The crew running these tours clearly makes the experience. Hannah, Stan, Russ, Will, Blake, and Sandra all get personal shout-outs for being knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled at navigating Deadwood's tight, winding streets (which apparently requires some serious driving chops). Several people recommend taking this tour early in your visit since it helps you figure out what else you want to see and where to spend your time. It's about an hour long, and the convenient downtown starting location makes it easy to fit into your day. Even folks who've visited Deadwood multiple times found it worthwhile, and pets appear to be welcome aboard. The overwhelming consensus is that it's money well spent, especially if you want the full historical context without wearing yourself out on the hills.

After spending a few hours in Deadwood on our own we decided to get a docent perspective to really learn about the town. Russ and Hannah were great and tour was super informative. Worth the $ to avoid the hill hike up to Mt Moriah Cemetary!
