Families consistently rave about this dog sledding operation, with owners Sara and Kris leading a team that clearly knows what they're doing. The experience lets you actually drive your own sled across scenic trails (often 7-12 miles), and guides on snowmobiles stay close by to help you navigate. People love how enthusiastic the dogs are and appreciate the attention to detail, from shuttle pickups to post-ride hot chocolate and cookies. The staff gets praise for being patient with nervous first-timers while still making it feel like an authentic adventure rather than just a passive ride. The vast majority of visitors call this a highlight of their Steamboat trip, with some even returning years later for a repeat experience. Families with kids as young as 5 or 6 report everyone having a blast, and multigenerational groups seem to do particularly well here. One traveler did experience a last-minute cancellation that was disappointing, though this appears to be an isolated incident among otherwise glowing feedback. If you're looking for an active winter activity beyond skiing, this comes highly recommended by both first-timers and experienced dog sledding enthusiasts who say it stands out from other operations they've tried.

We had a lot of fun dogsledding, and it was universally everyone’s favorite part of our trip to Steamboat Springs. It’s kind of a wild experience that I had never considered doing (I didn’t realize it was possible as a lay person), but we are not skiers that we were looking for other fun snow activities and came across it. Being pulled by the dogs through the snow was very magical. The people running the operation were very helpful, and rode on snowmobiles nearby to make sure everything went smoothly. Our kids (Age 5 and 2) are still talking about the different dogs and their personalities. Definitely worth it!
